These questions and answers develop and clarify some of the arguments presented in the Home page.
Q: Is this debate and dialogue restricted to agencies, producers and cultural organisations?
A: No. Anyone who believes that investment in culture impacts on the economy is welcome to contribute.
Q: Is this dialogue restricted to producers and agencies?
A:No, but leading providers need to reach a consensus on what they have achieved and how they may be able to share their views and experinces. This is a forum for knowledge sharing not for advocating separatist provision. It is aimed at promoting critical debate
Q: What does collaboration and networking mean?
A: It is a means of sharing knowledge but also involves combining resources, production ideas and intellectual property to reach larger and more diverse markets. This is best achieved by working with diverse partners to create and add content which some organisations may not be able to create on its own.
Q: Can you give some examples?
A:Yes. Asian Arts Access is working under an additional brand name, Mirador Culture, to make some of its work more accessible to new partners and audiences. Mirador is developing its own alliances and projects. Please see http://miradorculture.wordpress.com and www.drumbeat.wordpress.com
Q: Is this project funded and what is in it for you?
A: No. I am doing this voluntarily! I am contributing my time and experience so that I can also learn from others. I believe that the more we put into constructive exchange, the more we gain from it. I am speaking for myself and have not been ‘appointed’ by any authority to set this up!
Q: Some of us are already talking to our local authorities and have our own plans. What will we gain by working differently?
A: Working with larger networks will help producers and commentators to reach larger markets. In the end you make your own choice depending on your aspirations!
